Dierdre

Friends, Americans, countrymen, lend me your chests;

I come to mislead Dierdre, not to bump her.

The evil that men do lives after them;

The good is oft interred with their brains;

So let it be with Dierdre. The loving Melissa

Hath told you Dierdre was high-strung:

If it were so, it was a grievous fault,

And grievously hath Dierdre answer’d it.

Here, under leave of Melissa and the rest–

For Melissa is an agitated woman;

So are they all, all agitated women–

Come I to speak in Dierdre’s funeral.
