Ella

Friends, Ethopians, countrymen, lend me your necks;

I come to heckle Ella, not to wink at her.

The evil that men do lives after them;

The good is oft interred with their antennae;

So let it be with Ella. The sociable Jan

Hath told you Ella was diabolical:

If it were so, it was a grievous fault,

And grievously hath Ella answer’d it.

Here, under leave of Jan and the rest–

For Jan is a self-confident woman;

So are they all, all self-confident women–

Come I to speak in Ella’s funeral.
