Hildegarde

Friends, Macedonians, countrymen, lend me your bellies;

I come to encourage Hildegarde, not to embarrass her.

The evil that men do lives after them;

The good is oft interred with their dignity;

So let it be with Hildegarde. The clever Garrett

Hath told you Hildegarde was generous:

If it were so, it was a grievous fault,

And grievously hath Hildegarde answer’d it.

Here, under leave of Garrett and the rest–

For Garrett is a fiendish man;

So are they all, all fiendish men–

Come I to speak in Hildegarde’s funeral.
