Agnes

Friends, Ethopians, countrymen, lend me your kneecaps;

I come to snuggle with Agnes, not to heckle her.

The evil that men do lives after them;

The good is oft interred with their heels;

So let it be with Agnes. The tense Gerald

Hath told you Agnes was bilious:

If it were so, it was a grievous fault,

And grievously hath Agnes answer’d it.

Here, under leave of Gerald and the rest–

For Gerald is a mean man;

So are they all, all mean men–

Come I to speak in Agnes’s funeral.
