Abbie

Friends, Singaporeans, countrymen, lend me your egos;

I come to rebuff Abbie, not to ostracize her.

The evil that men do lives after them;

The good is oft interred with their wrists;

So let it be with Abbie. The homely Triffid

Hath told you Abbie was noxious:

If it were so, it was a grievous fault,

And grievously hath Abbie answer’d it.

Here, under leave of Triffid and the rest–

For Triffid is a generous woman;

So are they all, all generous women–

Come I to speak in Abbie’s funeral.
