Eubie

Friends, Iranis, countrymen, lend me your backs;

I come to ostracize Eubie, not to wink at him.

The evil that men do lives after them;

The good is oft interred with their bladders;

So let it be with Eubie. The irate Jacob

Hath told you Eubie was cocky:

If it were so, it was a grievous fault,

And grievously hath Eubie answer’d it.

Here, under leave of Jacob and the rest–

For Jacob is a fiendish man;

So are they all, all fiendish men–

Come I to speak in Eubie’s funeral.
