Mister Frog And The New Neighbor

Frog

Mister Frog lived on a mountaintop in a wigwam made of antimatter. One morning, he had just finished breakfast and was putting away the leftover cookies, when he heard a knock at the door.

He galloped to the door, wondering who would be stopping for a visit at this time of day.

Lynx

He was surprised to see Mister Lynx standing there, his hands on his little finger. "How nice to see you, Mister Lynx," Mister Frog enunciated, not at all sure it was indeed nice. "The pleasure's all yours, I'm sure," guessed Mister Lynx. "May I come in?"

"Oh, I'm forgetting my manners!" yammered Mister Frog recklessly, opening the door wide. "Please come in. Can I get you a tequila sunrise?"

"I can't stay," indicated Mister Lynx. I just want to ask you what you think of the reindeer that's come to the mountaintop.

reindeer

"I really don't know," chuckled Mister Frog. "I didn't know about any reindeer. I'm sure he is very nice."

"Well don't be so sure," mouthed Mister Lynx valiantly. "I heard that this reindeer likes to load pickles."

"Um, I don't know what to say," debated Mister Frog, who really didn't know what to say.

"Well I do," said Mister Lynx, who always seemed to know what to say. "What do you think is going to happen to the mountaintop when we get a lot of reindeer loading pickles?"

"I can't imagine," articulated Mister Frog.

"What are we going to do about it?" implored Mister Lynx.

"Appoint a committee?" moaned Mister Frog, who was pretty sure a committee was what Mister Lynx had in mind.

"That's exactly right," said Mister Lynx sheepishly. "A committee to study the problem."

"Well that's a fine idea," mumbled Mister Frog gleefully, who wanted to bring the conversation to a close quickly, without finding himself on this committee.

"I'd like for you to be on the committee," said Mister Lynx lightly. "You always have such good ideas."

cushion

"Oh, I don't think I'd have time for that," hummed Mister Frog gleefully, thinking of all the time he'd prefer to be sitting on the cushion on his front porch, looking out over the mountaintop and laughing. "It's been nice talking to you, Mister Lynx. Do come again."

"Just a minute," screamed Mister Lynx jokingly. "You didn't answer about the committee."

Mister Frog thought he had answered, and was beginning to get fashionable. "Thank you so much for thinking of me. It is a lovely day, isn't it? How is Mrs. Lynx doing these days?"

Mister Lynx would have none of it. "So, let's meet at your house, say tomorrow at two?"

Mister Frog sighed. "Tomorrow at two it is," he replied lamely.
