Mister Siamese cat lived in a buffalo wallow in a teepee made of rock. One morning, he had just finished breakfast and was putting away the leftover chopped liver, when he heard a knock at the door.
He sashayed to the door, wondering who would be stopping for a visit at this time of day.

He was surprised to see Mrs. Ladybug standing there, her hands on her neck. "How nice to see you, Mrs. Ladybug," Mister Siamese cat comforted, not at all sure it was indeed nice. "The pleasure's all yours, I'm sure," squeaked Mrs. Ladybug. "May I come in?"
"Oh, I'm forgetting my manners!" indicated Mister Siamese cat violently, opening the door wide. "Please come in. Can I get you a glass of papaya juice?"
"I can't stay," rumored Mrs. Ladybug. I just want to ask you what you think of the dolphin that's come to the buffalo wallow.

"I really don't know," griped Mister Siamese cat. "I didn't know about any dolphin. I'm sure he is very nice."
"Well don't be so sure," screeched Mrs. Ladybug warmly. "I heard that this dolphin likes to photograph antennas."
"Um, I don't know what to say," revealed Mister Siamese cat, who really didn't know what to say.
"Well I do," said Mrs. Ladybug, who always seemed to know what to say. "What do you think is going to happen to the buffalo wallow when we get a lot of dolphins photographing antennas?"
"I can't imagine," boomed Mister Siamese cat.
"What are we going to do about it?" sighed Mrs. Ladybug.
"Appoint a committee?" orated Mister Siamese cat, who was pretty sure a committee was what Mrs. Ladybug had in mind.
"That's exactly right," said Mrs. Ladybug violently. "A committee to study the problem."
"Well that's a fine idea," exclaimed Mister Siamese cat hastily, who wanted to bring the conversation to a close quickly, without finding himself on this committee.
"I'd like for you to be on the committee," said Mrs. Ladybug dolefully. "You always have such good ideas."

"Oh, I don't think I'd have time for that," rebutted Mister Siamese cat happily, thinking of all the time he'd prefer to be sitting on the recliner on his front porch, looking out over the buffalo wallow and winking. "It's been nice talking to you, Mrs. Ladybug. Do come again."
"Just a minute," offered Mrs. Ladybug unabashedly. "You didn't answer about the committee."
Mister Siamese cat thought he had answered, and was beginning to get awkward. "Thank you so much for thinking of me. It is a lovely day, isn't it? How is Mister Ladybug doing these days?"
Mrs. Ladybug would have none of it. "So, let's meet at your house, say tomorrow at two?"
Mister Siamese cat sighed. "Tomorrow at two it is," he replied gently.
