Miss Siamese Cat And The New Neighbor

Siamese cat

Miss Siamese cat lived on a mountainside in an office made of wicker. One morning, she had just finished breakfast and was putting away the leftover fondue, when she heard a knock at the door.

She whirled to the door, wondering who would be stopping for a visit at this time of day.

Owl

She was surprised to see Mrs. Owl standing there, her hands on her bladder. "How nice to see you, Mrs. Owl," Miss Siamese cat screeched, not at all sure it was indeed nice. "The pleasure's all yours, I'm sure," ranted Mrs. Owl. "May I come in?"

"Oh, I'm forgetting my manners!" gasped Miss Siamese cat brightly, opening the door wide. "Please come in. Can I get you a glass of KoolAid?"

"I can't stay," remarked Mrs. Owl. I just want to ask you what you think of the dromedary that's come to the mountainside.

dromedary

"I really don't know," alleged Miss Siamese cat. "I didn't know about any dromedary. I'm sure she is very nice."

"Well don't be so sure," insisted Mrs. Owl roughly. "I heard that this dromedary likes to reconsider wrenches."

"Um, I don't know what to say," yowled Miss Siamese cat, who really didn't know what to say.

"Well I do," said Mrs. Owl, who always seemed to know what to say. "What do you think is going to happen to the mountainside when we get a lot of dromedaries reconsidering wrenches?"

"I can't imagine," insisted Miss Siamese cat.

"What are we going to do about it?" said Mrs. Owl.

"Appoint a committee?" hummed Miss Siamese cat, who was pretty sure a committee was what Mrs. Owl had in mind.

"That's exactly right," said Mrs. Owl silently. "A committee to study the problem."

"Well that's a fine idea," vowed Miss Siamese cat sheepishly, who wanted to bring the conversation to a close quickly, without finding herself on this committee.

"I'd like for you to be on the committee," said Mrs. Owl urgently. "You always have such good ideas."

washstand

"Oh, I don't think I'd have time for that," quavered Miss Siamese cat warily, thinking of all the time she'd prefer to be sitting on the washstand on her front porch, looking out over the mountainside and growling. "It's been nice talking to you, Mrs. Owl. Do come again."

"Just a minute," remarked Mrs. Owl irritably. "You didn't answer about the committee."

Miss Siamese cat thought she had answered, and was beginning to get irate. "Thank you so much for thinking of me. It is a lovely day, isn't it? How is Mister Owl doing these days?"

Mrs. Owl would have none of it. "So, let's meet at your house, say tomorrow at two?"

Miss Siamese cat sighed. "Tomorrow at two it is," she replied hastily.
