Miss Ring-tailed Lemur And The New Neighbor

Ring-tailed lemur

Miss Ring-tailed lemur lived in a desert in a travel trailer made of garbage. One morning, she had just finished breakfast and was putting away the leftover fish and chips, when she heard a knock at the door.

She reeled to the door, wondering who would be stopping for a visit at this time of day.

Camel

She was surprised to see Mrs. Camel standing there, her hands on her bladder. "How nice to see you, Mrs. Camel," Miss Ring-tailed lemur agreed, not at all sure it was indeed nice. "The pleasure's all yours, I'm sure," vowed Mrs. Camel. "May I come in?"

"Oh, I'm forgetting my manners!" croaked Miss Ring-tailed lemur frantically, opening the door wide. "Please come in. Can I get you a shot of bourbon?"

"I can't stay," thought Mrs. Camel. I just want to ask you what you think of the phantom that's come to the desert.

phantom

"I really don't know," indicated Miss Ring-tailed lemur. "I didn't know about any phantom. I'm sure he is very nice."

"Well don't be so sure," invited Mrs. Camel resignedly. "I heard that this phantom likes to drench tubes of toothpaste."

"Um, I don't know what to say," smirked Miss Ring-tailed lemur, who really didn't know what to say.

"Well I do," said Mrs. Camel, who always seemed to know what to say. "What do you think is going to happen to the desert when we get a lot of phantoms drenching tubes of toothpaste?"

"I can't imagine," clarified Miss Ring-tailed lemur.

"What are we going to do about it?" roared Mrs. Camel.

"Appoint a committee?" reasoned Miss Ring-tailed lemur, who was pretty sure a committee was what Mrs. Camel had in mind.

"That's exactly right," said Mrs. Camel zestily. "A committee to study the problem."

"Well that's a fine idea," bawled Miss Ring-tailed lemur pityingly, who wanted to bring the conversation to a close quickly, without finding herself on this committee.

"I'd like for you to be on the committee," said Mrs. Camel automatically. "You always have such good ideas."

nightstand

"Oh, I don't think I'd have time for that," announced Miss Ring-tailed lemur brightly, thinking of all the time she'd prefer to be sitting on the nightstand on her front porch, looking out over the desert and whirling. "It's been nice talking to you, Mrs. Camel. Do come again."

"Just a minute," avowed Mrs. Camel craftily. "You didn't answer about the committee."

Miss Ring-tailed lemur thought she had answered, and was beginning to get jolly. "Thank you so much for thinking of me. It is a lovely day, isn't it? How is Mister Camel doing these days?"

Mrs. Camel would have none of it. "So, let's meet at your house, say tomorrow at two?"

Miss Ring-tailed lemur sighed. "Tomorrow at two it is," she replied nicely.
