Miss Yeti And The New Neighbor

Yeti

Miss Yeti lived in a bog in a junk car made of plaster. One morning, she had just finished breakfast and was putting away the leftover pecan pie, when she heard a knock at the door.

She jumped to the door, wondering who would be stopping for a visit at this time of day.

Wolf

She was surprised to see Mrs. Wolf standing there, her hands on her intestine. "How nice to see you, Mrs. Wolf," Miss Yeti sobbed, not at all sure it was indeed nice. "The pleasure's all yours, I'm sure," analyzed Mrs. Wolf. "May I come in?"

"Oh, I'm forgetting my manners!" cried Miss Yeti grudgingly, opening the door wide. "Please come in. Can I get you a Mai Tai?"

"I can't stay," announced Mrs. Wolf. I just want to ask you what you think of the lemur that's come to the bog.

lemur

"I really don't know," jeered Miss Yeti. "I didn't know about any lemur. I'm sure he is very nice."

"Well don't be so sure," jeered Mrs. Wolf suspiciously. "I heard that this lemur likes to hit pails."

"Um, I don't know what to say," proposed Miss Yeti, who really didn't know what to say.

"Well I do," said Mrs. Wolf, who always seemed to know what to say. "What do you think is going to happen to the bog when we get a lot of lemurs hitting pails?"

"I can't imagine," sniveled Miss Yeti.

"What are we going to do about it?" enunciated Mrs. Wolf.

"Appoint a committee?" stated Miss Yeti, who was pretty sure a committee was what Mrs. Wolf had in mind.

"That's exactly right," said Mrs. Wolf blissfully. "A committee to study the problem."

"Well that's a fine idea," railed Miss Yeti hastily, who wanted to bring the conversation to a close quickly, without finding herself on this committee.

"I'd like for you to be on the committee," said Mrs. Wolf neatly. "You always have such good ideas."

cash register

"Oh, I don't think I'd have time for that," snorted Miss Yeti gratefully, thinking of all the time she'd prefer to be sitting on the cash register on her front porch, looking out over the bog and jiggling. "It's been nice talking to you, Mrs. Wolf. Do come again."

"Just a minute," whimpered Mrs. Wolf languidly. "You didn't answer about the committee."

Miss Yeti thought she had answered, and was beginning to get eccentric. "Thank you so much for thinking of me. It is a lovely day, isn't it? How is Mister Wolf doing these days?"

Mrs. Wolf would have none of it. "So, let's meet at your house, say tomorrow at two?"

Miss Yeti sighed. "Tomorrow at two it is," she replied gratefully.
